Welcome to Encounters, Houston's upscale couples
club located in the Galleria area. Encounters is a
professionally operated off-premise couples club for
consenting adults. We are dedicated to providing a
comfortable atmosphere for open-minded couples to meet
and enjoy themselves.
Friday - Couples and single females only from 8pm to 2
am. $10 cover.
Saturday - Couples and single females only from 8pm to 2
am. Reservations accepted till 5pm only. $10 cover.
Encounters is located at 5718 Fairdale just off of the
Richmond strip behind Sam's Boat and Rick's Cabaret.
From Richmond go north on Bering Dr. At the first stop
sign go east (right) on Fairdale. Encounters will be on
your left.
Many times we have guests from out of town that come to
the club or those who know they may be drinking too much
to safely drive home. Because of this we sometimes get
requests for reccomendations on local hotels. Following

What's the difference between an on-premise and an
off-premise club?
At an on-premise club sex actually takes place on the
premises. An off-premise club is a meeting place for
couples but sex is not allowed to take place on the
premises. Encounters is an off-premise club.
What can we expect?
If you've never been to a "couples" club before it's
probably not what you're expecting. The club is very
nice with an upscale atmosphere. You're not going to be
pressured and there aren't people having sex in the
corners. What you will find are other like-minded
couples having a good time, socializing, and dancing.
The club purposefully designed to encourage a social
atmosphere. Music is played at moderate volumes and is
focused on the dance floor so that you can carry on a
conversation without having to yell. If you do find
another couple that you'd like to talk with but are
feeling a little shy our hostess or host will be happy
to make a polite introduction.
Do the women dress provocatively?
Some do and some don't. Women, if you've never been and
you want to be on the safe side dress as you would for a
nice dinner if you were trying to look sexy.
Friends - Austin, Texas
Friends is a very discreet private club (set up like a
regular night club in our own building) in Austin for
couples and single females ONLY, with a live DJ, dance
floor, etc.... A great place to meet like-minded couples
in a relaxed, non-pushy atmosphere. Although the
environment is very sexy, we are an off-premise club.
We are currently open every Friday and Saturday night
from 9 until 2 and have a large number of member
couples. We are private and BYOB with memberships
available. We have a lot of fun!
Strongest age demographic is 30 to 45 but we have a lot
of variety from 21 to ??? and average 50 to 75 couples
on Saturday nights. Our DJ's play music for all tastes
as well, giving you a good mix through the night. We
would love to have you visit sometime!
We don't have any pictures of the club online simply to
preserve the discretion of the members. For the same
reason no cameras are allowed in the club.
Membership is required on your first visit. To become a
member, you must complete our membership application,
which outlines the rules of the club. In addition, you
must pay an annual membership fee.
History of the club
Friends originally opened in Austin on October 8th, 1993
with the goal of providing a clean, safe environment for
couples and single females wishing to meet other
open-minded adults. Membership started through word of
mouth and within the first five months membership was
nearing 250 couples.
On March 12, 1994 a mysteriously caused fire started in
the Friends club and when all was said and done the
building was totally destroyed. The building itself was
insured, but not the contents of the club. Within 24
hours of the fire, meetings were taking place within the
membership of the club as to decide what to do. It was
successful and after a long search a suitable site was
found for the new Friends. Basics of walls, plumbing,
and electricity were completed and in August 1994 the
club reopened.
The funds generated by the weekly attendance as well as
some very generous contributions of money, materials,
and labor by some of the members helped finish the job
and on March 11,1995, almost one year after the fire,
Friends had it's grand re-opening. The old club was
memorialized in the entrance hall of the new club by the
framing a small piece of the dance floor that had been
recovered after the fire.
Today the membership of the club is quite large and is
growing weekly. The club is a very special place to
many. It's where we meet with friends, laugh, talk, and
bond with others who share an open attitude towards
human sexuality. It's still the sexiest and hottest club
we know of. But to some it means so much more.

FAQs
1. How do we become Friends members?
It's easy to become a member of Friends if you are A) a
couple or single female and B) have an open-minded view
of human sexuality. You may call the club at
(512)251-1199 for membership prices and directions to
the club. Because we do not cater to single males, the
lady MUST be present (when you call) and be able to
speak with a Friends representative before we can give
directions to the club. We do this for YOUR security and
privacy, to make sure everyone is aware of what's going
on and to prevent "hangers-on" in the parking lot, etc.
2. Why do we have to be members to come to the club?
We require membership to keep our legal status as a
private club, which allows us to provide a place where
both women and men can "dress down" to a g-string (if
they are so inclined) and also assures privacy for all
the members.
3. What if we don't want to "swap" just yet (if ever)
but are interested in enjoying the sexually uninhibited
environment of the club?
No problem! At Friends, your body is always under YOUR
control and the other patrons understand and respect
that. Friends is an off-premise club, meaning that it is
a place to meet other folks in a "no-pressure"
environment. If you are invited to a party (i.e,
after-hours) and you don't wish to attend/participate, a
simple "no thank you" will always suffice.
4. What does "off-premise" club mean? Or "on-premise"?
That's easy! Put very simply (and perhaps, bluntly),
"off-premise" means that sexual acts are not permitted
on the club premises. "On-premise" means (obviously)
just the opposite.
5. What kind of people go to Friends?
This is a tough question to answer because this type of
lifestyle is common to a large demographic cross-section
of people. On the average, there are a large number of
professional types of people that constitute our
membership. But for the most part, it's people like
yourself, who live and work around others, whom you
would never suspect that are "in the lifestyle." It may
surprise you if you know how many of your friends and
neighbors are involved in swinging. Some of the most
common similarities between our members are a love of
people, making new friends, a VERY strong and secure
loving relationship (despite what the media and Moral
Majority (which are neither) may think), combined with a
love of life and a desire to live it to it's fullest!
6. What is the average age of the crowd?
The strongest age demographics of the membership are
couples from their late twenties to their mid forties,
but there are many couples of every age from 21 through
the "senior years." With our membership being as large
as it is, on any given night there's a good chance
you'll find some folks you can relate to at the club.
7. What goes on in the club?
FUN!!...well that's the short answer. Dancing,
socializing, having a good time making new friends -
much the same as a regular nightclub. The biggest
difference, other than the attitude of the customers, is
the overtly sexy dress of the patrons (lots of
lingerie). WOW! it's hot in here...
8. Do the ladies have to dress sexily to attend?
Not at all. You are merely "permitted" to, because this
is a private club. There are many ladies that do dress
provocatively, and many that don't, so either way, dress
to suit your comfort level. All we ask is that you not
be surprised (or offended) by this playful behavior and
liberal dress code.
9. What kind of music do you play?
This is another tough one....the short answer?
Everything. Being a DJ in this club is a very difficult
job (please appreciate their efforts) because, as
opposed to most nightclubs (i.e, rock bars, dance clubs,
country-n-western clubs, etc) ONE type of music is not
the common interest of ALL the patrons. We play "hits"
of all types of music, but it's predominately Top-40
Dance with some rock (60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's), R&B,
and country thrown in during the night, and the DJ's
will also take specific song requests from the crowd. If
you have a certain song that you would like to hear feel
free to ask them to play it. Do keep in mind, however,
that not all the patrons have the same musical taste as
you, and the DJ's will be doing their best to please
everyone, so if you don't like a song being played, as
the saying goes about Texas weather, "wait a minute and
it will change". No matter what we're playing, there
will always be a lot of sexy bump-n-grind beats for you
to dance to. This is a club where people are socializing
that you might never have envisioned anywhere else. Our
clientele consists of every walk of life from cowboys to
attorneys, from construction workers to bankers (and a
few we've promised we wouldn't mention!)...and we have
never had a "major disturbance" of any kind!

10. What is NASCA?
NASCA stands for "North American Swing Club
Association." It is an association that is based out of
Buena Park, CA., whose main function is to promote this
type of lifestyle and the clubs that cater to it. Their

11. Why do so many clubs such as Friends prohibit
single, unescorted males from becoming members?
Because, this type of lifestyle is typically practiced
by consenting couples. If we permitted single men to
attend regularly, we would not be any different from any
other "generic" nightclub. Some couples do,
occasionally, enjoy the company of single males and it
is for this reason that we restrict admittance to our
club ONLY to single males that are invited guests of
member couples in good standing. In addition, we have
very specific guidelines that the single men must adhere
to while accompanied by a couple. We will gladly
elaborate on this at your request.
12. How do we meet others once we are in the club?
While an open attitude about sexual behavior is a major
reason for the club's existance, most couples in the
club are primarily interested in making new friends, not
just sexual partners. Always remember that the word
"hello" means just that - not "let's party." Try to make
new friends, and most likely everything else you are
looking for will happen. By the same token, actively
mingling with other couples is encouraged; we understand
that some people are more naturally outgoing than
others, but if you are interested in meeting people, the
best way to do it is to take the initiative to go up and
say "hi!" The same open communication that allowed you
as a couple to be able to participate in this lifestyle
should be used when talking with other couples.
Communication between all parties is the single most
important factor for enjoyment of this lifestyle. Just
because you are blown away with the great looking person
you just met does not mean your significant other will
be equally impressed with his/her partner. In other
words, don't assume, just ask.
13. Who should not come to Friends?
Generally speaking, if you are a couple who is secure
(very important) in your relationship and are looking
for a little extra spice in your bedroom, then you will
probably enjoy the club. On the other hand, if your
relationship is on the rocks and you are looking for a
way to salvage it, try counselling rather than a swing
club. Although we certainly like all the business we can
get, we would rather see your relationship last.
Swinging is recreational more than therapeutic.

The Krewe of Swingtown is a Mardi Gras Krewe, based in
the Houston area that is primarily aligned with the
Mardi Gras Celebrations in Galveston, TX. We are the

etc.) or as conservative as you want. Remember that we

Q: Can I upgrade from the Standard Membership to the

A: Yes. You can "upgrade" at anytime before your
standard membership is up. (Should you decide to pay the
additional $100 at a later time or when it is more
convenient)
Q: Do you accept credit cards or personal checks?
A: We accept Cash and Credit Cards (Visa, Mastercard,
AMEX, Debit/Check cards) at this time. However, we do
NOT accept personal checks. We have a drive up ATM
machine in our parking lot if you need cash, or you can
also "buy cash" from us using your Debit/Check card for
$2.50 per transaction.
Q: What if I want something for my drink that you do not
offer as a setup?
A: We will try our best to have the most common drink
setup items available. But, if we don't, just ask a
bartender and we will make sure that we have it for you
NEXT TIME!
Q: What makes Radiance different?
A: Typically, our members make Radiance different. Our
members respect each other's wishes. They enjoy each
other's company and are discreet. A lot of people who
attend Radiance events become friends and may meet at
times other than at Radiance events. The members also
add a touch of class and style with their attire and by
their conduct and they add to the overall positive
atmosphere at the club. Most importantly, Radiance is
relaxing and provocative. This is YOUR club...Isn't that
what it's all about?
Q: What is the dress code for a night at Radiance?
A: Many newcomers are unsure just how tantalizing or
seductive their clothing can get, so they tend to be a
little conservative on their first visit. That's okay!
The bottom line is to dress however you feel most
comfortable as revealing as you want (mini skirts,
provocative or sexy lingerie underneath, low cut tops,
etc.) or as conservative as you want. Remember that we
do not pass judgment except that no worn out, torn or
tattered jeans, T-shirts, sneakers, hats (Cowboy hats
are OK if the hat is presentable and clean) or unkept
clothing are permitted. Management reserves the right to
refuse entrance to the club to anyone if their clothing
is unacceptable.
Q: Are reservations required?
A: No, but seating may be hard to find if you show up to
the club too late. So, plan to arrive as early as
possible to get a good seat.
Q: Can I reserve a specific table in the club?
A: Yes, but ONLY if you are a Preferred or DIAMOND
Member (we will hold the table for you until 9:30 pm)
and ALL table reservations must be made by Friday at 5
PM for FRIDAY and/or SATURDAY. You can reserve a table
by calling the club line or better yet, via our contact
form on this site. Standard members cannot reserve a
table, and are on a "first come, first serve" basis.
Q: Are single males allowed?
A: NO. Only couples and single females. If you are a
single gentleman and would like to come to the club, you
must be escorted by a female and pay as a "couple" for a
One-Night membership.
Q: Are there any rules at the club?
A: Yes. Although the majority of rules are printed in
these Frequently Asked Questions, there are a few other
common-sense rules, such as prohibiting the use of
cameras and prohibiting possession of, or use of illegal
drugs. Violation of the latter rule would also result in
membership revocation.

1: DIRECTIONS TO THE CLUB:
The club is located at 4908 Greenville Ave. The club is
located just south of Lovers Lane on Greenville Ave. If
you are on 75 and are heading north take Lovers Lane
exit turn right on Lovers Lane. Turn right at the first
stop light and go south about 2 blocks. We are on the
left. On weekends we have a VALET and DOORMAN there to
help you.
If you are going south on 75 get off on Lovers Lane and
cross over 75. The directions are the same from there.
If you get lost PLEASE call 214-739-4760. There will be
some one there who can direct you to the club.
2: COVER & MEMBERSHIP.
There is a $10.00 COVER on Friday and Saturday nights
for the gentlemen, and a $5.00 cover for ladies on
Friday and Saturday nights. After 11:30 pm on Friday and
Saturday the cover for men is $15.00 a person.
Now if you get tired of paying cover each time you come
in then you may purchase a VIP MEMBERSHIP.
Benefits of this VIP CARD:
1. The card is good for the life of the club.
2. You do not have to pay cover except for Halloween-New
Years Eve- & live performances or Special events.
3. You may bring in as many as 3 new people at a time
with you on any given night. (A person can not be a
guest if they have been in the club more than 3 times.
They are then required to pay cover or buy a VIP card).
4. We invite you to celebrate your birthday at the club.
VIP members get a cake and balloons.

for water. We will not be giving out water in cups

WEEKDAYS
Mondays are known as "NO" PANTIES monday. If you are not
wearing any you get your 1st drink (your choice) for
$.50. Also Tuesday is "BRA LESS" TUESDAY. The same rule
applies here.
We also have $2.50 well drinks all night on these 2
nights 4pm-2am.
